Pops Super Blue Special or Wolfram – Our latest Tungsten alloyed Carbon tool steel. Paired with Carbon and low levels of impurities this is a very clean alloy. Perfect for kitchen knives, razors or edged tools which require more wear resistance, while still being easy to sharpen and work with! We have found that the ideal working hardness is 64HRc, which provides a great balance of performance and workability.

Suggested Heat Treatments:
Normalize at 1650 for 5 mins and air cool to room temperature
Heat to 1500F(815C) and hold for 5 minutes-10 minutes (66HRc as quenched)
Oil Quench (Suggested Oil is AAA)
Temper twice for two hours at 392F(200C) for 64HRc
Supplied Hot Rolled Annealed.
This steel needs to be normalized before heat treat for proper hardening.
